The Wight Badminton website has just been upgraded, moved to a new server and had the template modernized, and fortunately after all that it still works!
We are now running the latest version of WordPress and the new theme, whilst maintaining the Green look, has a more sleek feel about it and it will be modified slightly as the various options are played with. The menu system has also been altered slightly, and further changes will be made to this over the next week to help make it easier to find things and to add a few extra pages to the site.
Also the Forum has been given it’s own full-page area to operate within and the software running that should also be seeing an upgrade over the next week.
There was a surprise for Tony Isaacs, chairman of the Isle of Wight County Badminton Association, when he competed at the 2012 Masters Inter County Championships at Bournemouth. He became the first islander to be presented with the English Badminton award for outstanding services to the sport.
The presentation was made by Geoff Rofe, President of Badminton England, in front of fellow competitors at the Championship’s social evening. Tony Isaacs has been coaching juniors for over 30 years, some of whom are now playing Masters badminton themselves, and last summer was the driving force behind the highly successful Island Games badminton tournament.
There was also a presentation of flowers to Beryl Ashford who scheduled the tournaments, not just at Bournemouth but at various venues around the country over the last two weekends.

I’m looking for volunteers that are interested in helping to keep this site and the county press up to date with reports, results and anything else that we’re missing at the moment.
If you would like to help then please get in touch with me via email (dominicafonso@live.co.uk) and we’ll see what we can come up with.
Thanks,
Dom
Myself and Clare Powell are looking to start up a disability badminton club on the Isle Of Wight. If you know of anyone, any age, any ability that you think would be interested and enjoy joining please let them know my details….it would be great to get a team together and eventually compete against some mainland teams… I think this will be great fun. If your interested in helping out in any way then just shout me!
cheers, Sally

We have the bar until midnight, with the benefit of social club bar prices, and from 8pm we have one of the Island’s leading DJ’s (Tip Top Karaoke & Disco) getting us into the party mood with fantastic music (hopefully including some smoke and bubbles), lighting and optional Karaoke entertainment so all you sports stars can show how multi-talented you are!

Please contact your club secretary to reserve a ticket by the 9th May, as we need a good idea of numbers for organising the Buffet.

Best wishes,
Mark.
