First Tournament win for Emma

Emma Barry, partnered by the experienced Barry Bushell, won her first Island tournament today winning the W&D Thomas mixed doubles at Ryde Academy.

Twenty pairs competed in a round robin competition consisting of four groups of five. The group winners progressed through to the semi finals. Both semi finals needed three sets to settle on a winner. Barry and Emma won by the narrowest of margins beating Michael Hamman and Sophia Hellyer 21-20 in the third set.

In the other semi final Richard Grainger and Becca Richards lost the opening set to Clayton Simpson and Sarah McWilliam 21-15 before taking the next two sets 21-11 21-15.

In a keenly contested final Barry and Emma won 21-17 21-14
